Transformation and restoration and extension of a Dutch national monument, built originally as district court, to 16 energy-neutral apartments ranging in size from 20 to 70m2.

By utilizing the existing high ceilings we were able to fit full apartments in small floor areas.
Replacement of existing single glazing for vacuum glass made it possible to increase insulation dramatically without altering the details of the facade.

On the rear of the building, two extensions have been realized to optimize spatial usage of the existing building. The finishing of the extensions is done in wood with metallic trims and window frames, adapting the new extensions with classic materials to the existing building, as to not dilute any of the clarity lines of the existing building.
